Annapolis Christian Academy is, in essence, an expression of the commitment of a body of parents to provide the best possible training and instruction for their children. Our mission is to assist parents in their biblical responsibility to educate their child while using the combination of the Christ-centered curriculum and the classical approach to learning. ACA strives to instill in its students a love for seeking truth, wisdom, and discernment. The most impressive quality of ACA, as a whole, is its spirit of love…..joy…..family…..while remaining committed to academic excellence. ACA is committed to maintaining an excellent academic environment while always stressing a Christian Worldview in all subjects.
As
a Christian school, we require that at least one parent or guardian of each
applicant give a credible profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior and be a regular attendee or member of a Christian church. Students
seeking admission are evaluated on the basis of their report cards, references,
admission questionnaires, interviews, and potential to perform satisfactorily
at Annapolis. Listed below are a few specific guidelines adhered to in student
admissions.
Subject
to compliance with admission requirements, Annapolis Christian Academy will
admit students of any race to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities
generally made available to all students. Annapolis Christian Academy practices
a Biblical philosophy of admissions, not discriminating on the basis of race,
sex, color, or national origin in the administration of its policies, admissions,
scholarships, athletic and other school-directed programs.
Is
ACA accredited?
Annapolis Christian Academy is currently affiliated with the Association of
Classical & Christian Schools (ACCS) and the Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI). We are currently seeking accreditation through
ACCS.
Are
your teachers certified?
ACA requires that all of our teachers first possess a love for children, the
gift of teaching, and a growing spiritual relationship with Christ. All of
our teachers participate in on-going in-house training and most travel to
Moscow, Idaho for a week-long training session at Logos Academy. All of our
secondary teachers are degreed in the area of their instruction.

Do we have to apply for acceptance into your
school?
There is an enrollment process to follow that includes an application, reference
forms, and an interview with the Headmaster for both students and parents.
Upon completion of the review of the application and reference forms and following
the interview, applicants are notified of their acceptance status.
Is
financial assistance available?
Yes, financial assistance is available through our “need-based”
Tuition Assistance Program. Families who desire financial assistance are encouraged
to apply. All applications and decisions are handled confidentially by a third
party outside of our offices. Applications are available in the school office
and are due April 15 for the upcoming school year.
Can
students who have not attended ACA in the elementary school years begin in
junior high or high school?
Yes. Although it is preferred that a student receive the benefit of the full
classical program K-12th, students are accepted at any grade level. It is
the desire of the ACA administration and staff that efforts be made to work
with incoming students in areas where they may not have had previous instruction
such as Latin, Logic, etc. These types of situations are handled on an individual
basis.
What
are your class sizes?
Our class sizes vary amongst grades. Our average class size is 12. Our student/faculty
ratio is approximately 6/1.
What
curriculum do you use?
ACA uses a variety of published curriculum. A curriculum that fits a biblical
worldview and incorporates the strengths from several quality publishers has
been developed over the years. Phonics is used in the lower grades. Some distinctives
include Saxon Math, Shurley Grammar, Latin, logic, rhetoric, and theology.
Why
do you teach Latin?
Annapolis Christian Academy views Latin as an integral part of its curriculum.
Across the nation, studies have shown Latin to be effective in improving SAT
scores. Latin students consistently out perform students of other foreign
languages on the verbal portion of the SAT. Latin, because of its structure
and alphabet (same as English) is very beneficial in the mastery of English
grammar as well as vocabulary development. It has been estimated that for
every year one studies Latin, 500 to 1000 new English words are gained. In
addition, since all Romance languages derive from Latin, learning modern foreign
languages like Spanish or French is much easier if one has studied Latin.
Do
you have chapel? How often is it held?
Yes, students attend chapel once per week, however each school day is begun
with devotions in each classroom which consists of bible reading, prayer and
pledges.
Are
uniforms required? Where can they be purchased?
Yes, uniforms are required and must
be purchased through Land's
End. Prior to purchasing uniforms, please
refer to our
Purchasing
Guidelines for uniform
requirements. You should also refer to our Dress
Code Policy in the Parent Student Handbook for additional details.

are your extra-curricular activities?

Annapolis Christian Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national and ethnic origin in administration of educational policies, scholarships programs, athletic, and other school-administered programs.
Tuition
covers approximately 80% of the actual cost of an Annapolis Christian Academy
education. The other 20% is covered through financial support from various
donors, through our annual Golf Tournament & Dinner Auction, and through

affordability of tuition, it is essential that ACA parents volunteer time
